Bhopal: 2 counter FIRs registered against Journalism University students

MP Nagar police on Monday registered two counter FIRs including a molestation case on the counter complaints filed by a Journalism University's students. The survivor girl alleged that the accused passed lewd comments at her, meanwhile the accused junior student alleged that it was a case of ragging.

BHOPAL: MP Nagar police on Monday registered two counter FIRs including a molestation case against complaints filed by a Journalism University's students.The survivor girl alleged that the accused passed lewd comments at her, meanwhile the accused junior student alleged that it was a case of ragging. Investigating officer SI Harsh Songare said that the survivor, 22, a native of Uttar Pradesh, is a student at a Journalism University in Bhopal. In her complaint to police, she stated that on Monday afternoon when she was sitting along with her friends in the college campus, the accused student, 20, who is a junior student of another department, passed lewd comments on her. When she protested, the accused assaulted her.However, the junior, who was made an accused in the molestation case, alleged that it was purely a case of ragging and he was assaulted by a group of 30 people at a ground in Govindpura locality. The accused even recorded his obscene video and threatened to circulate it on social media platforms."Around 6pm, when he was going to a friend's flat along with a friend on a bike, around seven to eight bike-borne youths stopped them in Rachna Nagar locality and forcefully took him at an isolated ground in Govindpura locality, where he was beaten up with sticks and forced to apologise," said the junior while adding that he was framed in a false molestation case.
ACP (Women Safety) Nidhi Saxena told TOI that a case on charges of molestation against one identified and three unidentified accused was registered on the complaint of the survivor. Meanwhile an assault case against four identified accused was registered on the complaint of the junior student at MP Nagar police station. Further investigations are under way in the case. No arrest has been made yet.(The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme Court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
